Bershers, 70, Coeur d'Alene, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at St. Elizabeth's Community Hospital in Red Bluff, Calif. Bob was born April 12, 1935, in Bristow, Okla. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Louise Bershers of Coeur d'Alene; mother Thelma Bershers, Oroville, Calif.; daughters Patricia Shore, Mill Valley, Calif., Khristine Bershers, Arlington, Va., Jennifer Fox and grandsons Mason and Tyson Fox, Post Falls; sisters Betty Elam and Dortha Noyer, Oroville, Calif., and Beverly Mooney, Marysville, Calif.; and brother Dennis Bershers, Chicago. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Bershers, and sister Dorris Hansen. After meeting Louise while working on the Oroville Dam project in California, the couple migrated north, first to Oregon, and then, in 1980, to their beloved North Idaho, raising their three daughters and a barnyard full of animals at the Cougar Creek Farm in Cougar Gulch. Bob was an active member of the Kootenai County Fair Board, founder of Con Mat Construction, active in the North Idaho community, and a staunch supporter of his daughters' horse-showing escapades. He and Louise traveled the world -- Panama, Indonesia, Canada, and of course, all over the United States. (After sampling world cuisine, Bob always said nothing was better than his wife's cooking.) After retiring from the daily grind of the construction business, Bob and Louise tried the "snowbird" routine, living in Palm Springs, Calif., for the winter months, then Coeur d'Alene for the summers. But the draw of North Idaho, cold winters and all, was too much to resist, and the couple moved their permanent residence back to Coeur d'Alene just last year. Bob's greatest love was his family and friends. He delighted in meeting new people, helping those whom he could, and making sure that he never hung up the phone with a family member without saying "I love you." He will be greatly missed by all who had the great fortune to know him. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Oct. 22 at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, building 2. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene, is entrusted with arrangements. You may visit Bob's memorial and sign his online guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
