Family notes
Avery Savre Brush was born March 15, 1917 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa to Avery S. 
Brush (bank cashier at Osage Bank (born 1890-died 1918)) and Cora M. Savre 
(born abt 1889-died 1964). Avery had one sister, Dell M. (Brush) French who 
died 1967. 

Avery attended and graduated from Osage High School, Osage, Mitchell, IA. After 
graduation, he worked at the bank in Osage, Iowa.  

Avery married Lorraine Dorothy Ketelsen on October 15, 1939 at Glenwood, Mills 
County, Iowa. (Lorraine Ketelsen was born August 18, 1917 at Osage, Mitchell, 
IA to August Jurgen Ketelsen and Anna Marie Arp, the last of five children, she 
died May 31, 2005 at Grants Pass, Josephine, Oregon.) 

Lorraine and Avery had one daughter while living in Osage, Mitchell, Iowa 
(still living in 2011). 

Avery served in the US Navy during World War II, enlisting January 27, 1943. He 
was released October 9, 1945.

The family moved to Idaho in 1945. Avery worked with the civil service, was an 
accountant for Idaho Water and then for the city of Coeur d'Alene about 17 
years, retiring 1980.  

Avery was a member of the St Luke's Episcopal Church, Kootenai Masonic Lodge, 
Scottish Rite 32 degree Mason, Calam Temple of Lewiston, Couer d'Alene Shrine 
club and a former member of Elks Dance Band. 

Avery Brush died December 16, 1992 at the hospital in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. His 
funeral was held at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was 
cremated and buried at Forest Cemetery at Coeur d'Alene, ID.

Avery Brush can be found in the 1920, 1925, and 1930 censuses at Osage, 
Mitchell, IA: 
1920: Cora Brush 30, Dell Margaret Brush 5, Avery Saire Brush 2 yrs, 10 mos. 
1925: Cora Bruah 34, Dell M Bruah 10, Avre G Bruah 7. Cora is widowed, her 
mother was Margaret Larson and father Ruste Savre, both from Norway. 
1930: Cora S Brush 40, Dell M Brush 15, Avery S Brush 13, Margaret L Savre 83.
