Fern was born Dec. 3, 1906, in Walla Walla, Wash., to Thomas and Eunice (Wager) Campbell. In April, 1911, at age 4 she made the railroad trip to Plummer with her mother and two sisters to meet her father, who had built a cabin on the Coeur d'Alene Reservation homestead. She lived there until her marriage to William (Bill) Agte in June, 1927. She graduated from St. Regis high school in 1924. After marriage, she and bill moved into the home on the ranch on Agte Road that she still owned upon her death. Fern was a homemaker and partner on the farm. An expert gardener, she always kept a showcase yard full of flowers and a large garden to feed the family and for canning. She was a member of the Plummer Congregational Church and the Plummer Grange. In the past she was active in Minaloosa Ladies Aid, Plummer Home Demonstration Club and the Senior Advisory Board. Fern is preceded in death by her husband, William Agte in 1969, sister Caryl Stratton, and brother Mark Campbell. She is survived by her sister, Thelma Stratton of Colfax, Wash., three sons, Tom and Joan Agte, Plummer, Roger and Lois Agte, Coeur d'Alene, Lloyd and Barbara Agte, Plummer, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to express our thanks and gratitude to the caregivers, Deanne Morris and Barbara Tee, for their care of Fern while she was still on the farm. The employees of Sylvan House, Hayden, for their care of Fern for the last seven years and Bee Hive Homes and Hospice for the care given to Fern and the family in her last days. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at Plummer Bible Church in Plummer. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Plummer Senior Center.
