He was born on Feb. 7, 1914, to Ben Atherton and Blanche in Wilbur, Neb. Robert was adopted and raised as Robert B. Cantrell by James V. and Laura Bell Cantrell, his aunt and uncle. He lived in Kellogg for 32 years then 12 years in Sequim, Wash. Robert was a production foreman at Bunker Hill Mine in Kellogg most of his working life. He attended Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d'Alene. He served eight years in the National Guard. He is survived by his sons, Larry Cantrell, Ft. Cobb, Okla., Leland Cantrell, Austin, Texas and Leroy Cantrell of Moscow. He had two grandchildren, Richard Lee and David Cantrell. Other survivors include brother-in-law, Robert Aschermann, Pueblo, Colo., and sister-in-law, Regena McLain, San Leondro, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madelyn E., Larry Cantrell, son, and Robert Cantrell, infant son. Contributions can be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church or a charity of their choice. Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d'Alene. Please sign Robert's guest registry and view his online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
