Born July 23, 1940, to Edgar and Emma (Glenn) Carlson in Kendrick, Idaho, she was raised in Genesee, where she graduated from high school in 1958. Pat married Gary V. Bennett on Dec. 15, 1961, in Genesee. In 1962, she graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in secondary education. Pat and Gary made their first home in Moscow, where she taught at high schools in Genesee and Deary. After she and Gary moved to Kamiah in 1966, she taught at Clearwater Valley High School for nine years. In 1975, she and Gary moved back to Moscow, where they raised their two daughters and she taught at Moscow High School for 16 years. After moving with Gary to Sandpoint in 1991, she worked in the administrative office at Bonner County School District. She then retired in 2003, after 41 years of working in the Idaho public school system. Pat was active in the Alpha Chi Omega alumni chapter at University of Idaho. During their 43-year marriage, she and Gary enjoyed many years traveling on business trips and vacationing in the sun. They also loved dancing and were members in the Dance Club in Moscow. Pat enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid sports fan. After moving to Sandpoint, she and Gary learned how to ski and spent many days on the slopes at Schweitzer. One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. Pat is survived by her husband, Gary of Sandpoint; daughters Tiffany (Mike) Hart, Lakewood, Wash., and Angela Ouren, Post Falls; sisters Barbara Adair, Lewiston, and Audra (Bill) Penick, Liberty Lake, Wash.; grandchildren Tatum and Taryn Ouren, Post Falls, Katelyn and Bennett Hart, Lakewood. Visitation will be today, and funeral service will be 11 a.m. Oct. 8, both at Malcomb's Funeral Home, 1711 18th St. Lewiston, ID 83501, (208) 743-4578, www.malcomsfuneralhome.com. The family suggests memorial contributions to North Idaho Cancer Center in Coeur d'Alene.
