Nagrone, 89, Coeur d'Alene, died Aug. 10, 2005, at home. Born May 13, 1916, to Barbara (Doubrava) and James Cermak, both of Czechoslovakia, in Cleveland, her family returned to Czechoslovakia and Cleveland three different times before Helen was 13. Her mother passed when she was 13, and Helen helped with raising the family until her father married her stepmother, Marie. At age 15, Helen contracted tuberculosis. After recovering, she trained to be a nurse and went to work at a tuberculosis sanitarium helping others with various illnesses. On Jan. 2, 1939, Helen married James G. McGuire in Cleveland and became a full- time homemaker. They moved to White Haven, Penn., where they raised children James G. McGuire Jr. and Barbara M. McGuire. In 1975, they moved to Coeur d'Alene to retire. James predeceased her on Dec. 5, 1979. On Dec. 9, 1989, Helen married Pancho Nagrone in Coeur d'Alene. Pancho also predeceased her on April 29, 1996. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters, and traveled with the Rambling Rovers. Helen enjoyed gardening, painting, drawing, photography, writing and poetry. Survivors include her stepsisters, Rose Collona of Cleveland, Beatrice Johns, Salem, Ore., Carol Tuttle, Cleveland; daughter Barbara M. McGuire, Coeur d'Alene; grandsons Joseph Drobnock, Michael Drobnock, both of Coeur d'Alene, Michael McGuire, and Samuel McGuire, New Jersey; granddaughters Kathleen Valli and Patricia Corbi, both of New York; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, Helen was predeceased by her son, James Jr., in Nov. 2003, and sisters Ruth in 1999 and Victoria in 1974. Visitation will be noon-7 p.m. Aug. 15 at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Aug. 16 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 919 Indiana Ave., Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814, to where memorials may be sent.
