Chase, 84 Chase, Marvin C., 84, passed away Aug. 25, 2005, in Spokane. Marvin was born in Wenatchee Wash., on Sept 5th, 1920, to Maj. Clifford Chase and Shirley Lunden Chase. He met and married Viola Kazanis in 1942 and she preceded him in death in 1981. Marv enlisted in the army in World War II and participated in the invasions of the Solomon Islands, New Guinea and the Philippines as a first lieutenant. Following the war he attained his bachelor's in mining engineering and worked as an engineer and geologist for the Pend O'Reille Mines in Metaline Falls, the Atomic Energy Commission in Denver, Juniper Mines in Canyon City, Colo., and Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. He was general manager of Sunshine Mining in Kellogg from 1969 to 1974 and later formed Inland Zinc Co. in Spokane from 1975 to 1987. In addition, Marvin was an avid stamp collector, a Bridge Life Master with his wife, and active in Serra Club, Rotary 21, President of the Northwest Mining Association, and a daily communicant at Our Lady of Fatima. Marvin's life had many ups and downs, but he never had a bitter word and maintained his life with dignity and faith. Toward the end he told each of his family members that he loved them, and thanked God for an interesting life, while looking forward to his next life with Jesus Christ. Preceded in death by daughter Sue MacPherson; Seattle, he is survived by his wife, Eunice (Burton) Chase; Spokane,, whom he met again at their 45th Wenatchee High School Reunion, his daughters, Barbara Ann Chase; Cumbrae, Scotland, Nancy Chase and Mary Chase; Portland, and sons Rob Chase; Liberty Lake, Pete Chase; Coeur d' Alene, and eight grandchildren, all of whom admired and loved him very much. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at 11 a.m. and will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 34th and Perry.
