Frederick Louis Collins, born in Forsyth, Mont., on Oct. 22, 1932, to Harry Fredrick and Genevie Margarat Collins, returned home unexpectedly to be with the Lord Nov. 15, 2005. From his home in Forsyth, Frederick joined the Army on July 25, 1951, where he served his country with distinction during the Korean Conflict. He earned the Korean Service Medal, three Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and Combat Infantry Badges. Frederick finished his military duties as a member of the Presidential Honor Guard for President Eisenhower, where he met his bride, Sarah (Betty) Hudson. Married on July 30, 1954, he took his new bride back to Montana on his 1946 Flathead Harley. Frederick and Betty started their family there, and in 1962, moved to Black Lake, Idaho, where he worked as a logger for more than 30 years. In 1982, Frederick and Betty moved to the Grand Coulee area, where they started their new business, Betty's Place. While there, he remained very active in the VFW, helping out at the Nursing Home, and was an officer with the Eagles Lodge. Frederick is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Fredrick and Genevie Margarat, his wife of 49 years, Sarah E. (Betty), oldest son Cliffard Louis, daughter Nancy Lou, older sister Marion Fay, and younger brother Larry Evans. He is survived by his children, Ray and Iva Graves of Electric City, Wash.; Patty Collins, Post Falls; Jim and LaVonne Oliver, Newport, Wash.; Pat and Shirlene Collins, Grand Coulee, Robert and Paula Collins, Coulee Dam. He is also survived by his brothers, John, Keith and Michael; sisters Beradine, LaVonne, Barbara, Alice Sherri, Maxine and Becky; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frederick's entire family, as well as all his friends, will deeply feel the loss of this special man who was loved by all who knew him. "Until we can be with you again we will hold you in our hearts and pray for comfort from our loss." -- your loving family. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Nov. 23 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Grand Coulee, Wash.
