"Bones" Currie, 74, Coeur d'Alene, passed away Aug. 1, 2005, at Kootenai Medical Center, after battling the rare metabolic disease of amyloidosis, with the secondary diagnosis of multiple myeloma. He was born Aug. 9, 1930, in Trochu, Alberta, Canada, to Pearl (Esgate) and Elmer Currie. In 1932, the family came to Coeur d'Alene, and Bones graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1948. He attended North Idaho Junior College. Bones was with the 148th FABN Idaho National Guard when activated during the Korean Conflict in 1951. On June 27, 1954, he married Janice Kirk at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Coeur d'Alene. He became an apprentice carpenter and worked in construction his entire life. In the late-1960s, he formed Ralph Currie Construction, and in 1983, became owner and operator of Northwest Computer Furniture. Bones became a naturalized American citizen in 1997. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Coeur d'Alene. Bones enjoyed working in his shop, watching the New York Yankees and baseball, and hunting and fishing. He once played against the Harlem Globe Trotters in Spokane. Survivors include his wife, Janice, at home; daughters and sons-in-law, June and Ken McCloskey, Kingston, Janell and Mark Colopy, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Cassie and George Kelley, Coeur d'Alene; grandchildren Angie Duncan and Nicole Duncan; grandson Connor Kelley; great-grandson Colby Duncan; sister Vivien Heaton, Alberta, Canada; brother Elmer Currie, Coeur d'Alene; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bones was predeceased by his parents, brother Roy Currie, niece Cydne Welsford and nephew Kyle Kirk. Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Aug. 5 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 501 Wallace Ave., Coeur d'Alene. Inurnment at St. Luke's will take place at a later date. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, is in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be made to the carpentry department at North Idaho College Foundation, 1000 W.
