Friday Nov. 25, 1960. Mrs. Dittemore Taken by death Mrs. Gertrude S. Dittemore, 77, a resident of Coeur d' Alene for 24 years, died yesterday afternoon in a local hospital. Her home was at 809 Montana. She was the wife of Charles L. Dittemore, a Kootenai county pioneer who is best known for his work promoting better highways in north Idaho. Mrs. Dittemore, the former Gertrude Smith, was born in Eau Claire, Wis., Nov. 17, 1883, and at the age of 14 moved to Tacoma, where she finished high school. She graduated from Normal school at Bellingham, Wash., and taught schools in Seattle and King county. She was teaching at Snoqualimie when she retired to marry Dittemore Aug. 14, 1936. Since their marriage they had lived at the same address here. Mrs. Dittemore was active in the Presbyterian church, serving 15 years as a Sunday school teacher, 12 of them as superintendent of the beginners department, and as deaconess for several years. In addition to her widower, she is survived by a niece, Mrs. Marian Fish, Portland and a cousin, Mrs. Leigh Robbins, Seattle, who will come here to attend the services.
