Born March 21, 1925, in Casper, Wyo., Don was 12 years old when he moved to Hood River, Ore., to live with his brother. In the early '40s, he moved to Southern California, where he met Jacqueline Magee. They were married July 31, 1949, in Compton, Calif., and made their home in Lakewood, Calif., for the next 18 years. There, Don owned and operated a coin and hobby shop and worked as a foreman for Firestone Tire & Rubber Company. They made their home next in Huntington Beach, Calif., for 12 years. In 1979, Don and Jackie moved to Idaho, first to Coeur d'Alene, and then to Spirit Lake. Don had worked for the Watson Security Agency in Coeur d'Alene for a number of years. Following the death of Jackie on April 7, 2001, Don married Helen Rolli on Sept. 12, 2003. Helen was a close friend of both Jackie and Don for 45 years. Don was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church of Rathdrum, Spirit Lake Lions Club and Spirit Lake Ambulance Squad, with which he was a driver for nine years. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, oil painting, and coin and stamp collecting. He is survived by his wife, Helen of Spirit Lake; son and daughter-in-law, Donald T. and Rosa Dolph, Rathdrum; daughter and son-in-law, Velma M. and Bill Bockstruck, Rathdrum; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Marion Dolph, Coeur d'Alene; granddaughters Heidi, Danielle and Jacqueline; grandsons Gary, Kyle, Trevor, Kevin and Calvin; and his dog, Daisy. Don was also preceded in death by his son, Charles C. Dolph, in 2003, and two brothers. Inurnment will be 1:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls. Memorial service will follow 3 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Rathdrum. A reception will be held at the church at the conclusion of the service.
