Kootenai County, Idaho: Obituaries - Bette Lou Donovan ******************************************************* submitted by: Muddypaw [muddypaw@onemain.com] Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Idaho <> Bette Donovan, 80 Bette Lou Donovan, 80, Hayden Lake, died Aug. 11, 2004, at Kootenai Medical Center. She was born March 11, 1924, in Auburn, Neb., to Rudolph and Eoma Bel (Mathews) Buthman. Bette spent most of her life working in the stained glass business with her husband of 55 years, Robert D. Donovan. Donovan Stained Glass Studio in Burbank, Calif., was the largest in the United States, and Bette and Robert enjoyed their work and made their mark in the world. They created many notable works of art, including the Beverly M. Stauffer Chapel at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif. Bette also designed, color coordinated and cut all the glass for her crew to assemble and install the windows. She was also proud of the windows she designed for St. Thomas Moore Church in Spokane. Her hobbies included painting, gardening and collecting antiques. Bette is survived by her husband, Robert D. Donovan of Hayden Lake; son, Robert L. Donovan, Hayden Lake; daughters, Deatra Loree Yatman, Beverly Hills, Calif., and Carol Marie Kelly, Hayden Lake; brother, Cyril Buthman, Vacaville, Calif.; grandchildren, Rick, Sara, Robin, Ryan, Rachel and Wendi; one great-grandchild; three nieces, one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Leon Buthman and Daryl Buthman, and sister, Merdith Buthman. Private family services will be held. Interment will take place at Rimrock Cemetery at a later date.
