Hammer, 80 Fred D. Hammer, 80, Coeur d'Alene, entered into rest Sept. 28, 2005. He leaves his wife, Dorothy; daughters Diana Ganz and Patty Roberts, California; son Mark, Arizona; stepdaughter Dee; sisters Anne Gladstone and Louise Rossi, California; brother Glenn Hammer, Tennessee; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His father was a pastor at the Brethren Church in Deep Creek, Wash., and Fred's mother traveled to Huntsville to be with her mother-in-law for Fred's birth on June 10, 1925, in Huntsville, near Walla Walla. Fred was a kind and gentle soul who had twinkling eyes and a spring in his step. He loved music and was a Life Master Teacher of Music in California. He owned and operated Penryn School of Music in Penryn, Calif., in the former church building that he remodeled into the school and wedding chapel. He enjoyed building an immense pipe organ for the church. Fred also enjoyed square-dancing with his wife Dorothy. We look forward to seeing Fred again in the future when the Lord wakes him from the sleep of death. "If an able-bodied man dies, can he live again? All the days of my compulsory service, I shall wait, until my relief comes. You will call, and I myself shall answer you. For the work of your hands, you will have a yearning." -- Job 14:12-15. Private family service will be held at a later date. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, is in care of arrangements. Please visit Fred's memorial and sign his online guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
