Hamrick, 74 Roy B. Hamrick, 74, was born April 4, 1931, to Don G. and Lillian G. (Lewis) Hamrick in Seattle, and passed away Aug. 17, 2005, in Coeur d'Alene. Roy grew up in the Seattle area. As a young man, he went into the Army at the age of 17. He served in occupied Germany his full time while he served our country. He was honorably discharged from the service in June 1952. After his discharge, Roy moved to Sunnyside, Wash., where he met Peggy Jean Taylor and was married to her on Nov. 5, 1952, at the home of her brother, Tom and Bett Taylor. Peggy and Roy were together until the day of his passing. Roy drove truck until he went to work for the city of Sunnyside, Wash., in 1955. He worked 1 1/2 years in the street department, then joined the Sunnyside Police Department, where he spent the following 18 1/2 years. Then, in 1973, Roy went to work at Hanford Nuclear Reservation. He started out working security, then became a process operator. He retired from Hanford in 1994 and moved to Athol. Roy loved hunting, fishing, boating, traveling in his fifth-wheel and was happiest when spending time with his special friends and family. Roy is survived by his wife, Peggy J. Hamrick, of Athol; son and daughter-in- law, Don B. and Patricia M. Hamrick, Athol; daughter and son-in-law, Vicki J. and Joe Thompson, Coos Bay, Ore.; and all his friends in Athol. Memorial service was held Aug. 28 at the American Legion Hall in Athol. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, was in charge of cremation. Memorial contributions may be given to American Legion or the Dorenbecker's Children Hospital, in care of Cancer Research Dept., Portland, Ore.
