Born in Tillamook, Ore., on Dec. 13, 1940, to Floyd and Lorretta Harmon, her grandparents, Garrett and Vesta Trump, raised Sheri in Muskegon, Mich. As a young child, she often helped in the seafood grotto and seafood market owned by her grandparents. In 1954, she moved to live with her mother to Lawndale, Calif., where she wed James (Jim) Knight. They were married in 1958 at the Hawthorne Church of the Nazarene. Sheri taught Sunday school and served in many other positions in the church. While living in California, they had four children. Sheri was employed by the church, Security Pacific Bank and Pacific Telephone, from which she accepted an early retirement in 1991. In 1994, Sheri and Jim moved from Cypress, Calif., to Hayden. She was very active in the Coeur d'Alene Sweet Adeline's chorus. Jim is a member of the Coeur d'Alene Elks Lodge, whose activities Sheri was also very active with. In November 2003, Jim and Sheri joined the Community United Methodist Church in Coeur d'Alene. In 2000, Sheri was diagnosed with cancer and, on Sept. 30, 2005, lost her battle with the disease. Her husband Jim; three daughters, Sheryle, Lynnette and Stephanie; son Andrew; 12 grandchildren; and brothers Jack and Paul, survive her. Her grandparents, parents and sisters Carol and Laura predeceased her. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Oct. 6 at Community United Methodist Church, 1470 W. Hanley Ave. Celebration will follow at the Coeur d'Alene Elks Lodge, 1170 W. Prairie Ave. Donations can be made to Cancer Care Northwest Foundation, 601 S. Sherman, Spokane, WA 99202.
