Hawley Jr., 82 Elmer C. Hawley, 82, Coeur d'Alene, passed away Sept. 10, 2005, in Coeur d'Alene. He was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Spokane, to Elmer C. Hawley Sr. and Dora (Parker) Hawley, he was raised in the Wardner/Kellogg area and entered the Army Air Corps in 1943. Elmer served in the European Theatre during World War II and was stationed in France, Belgium and England. After his discharged in 1945, he began a 40-year career at Kaiser Aluminum. Elmer met his wife Patricia Bernasconi, of Sydney, Australia, at the Silver Grill Cafe in Coeur d'Alene. They were married 52 years until her death in July 2002. He was interested in everything, but his passion was flying. He earned his private pilot's license and flew small seaplanes from Lake Coeur d'Alene. He loved to hunt, fish and tinker with cars and fix most anything. Elmer was a devoted husband to Patty, and took very good care of her when she was ill during the last years of her life. A member of the Coeur d'Alene Eagles, he would spend his evenings at the Lodge, enjoying dinner, drinks and a dance or two. He loved the companionship of all the Lodge members and wanted to let them know how much happiness they brought him these last few years. Elmer also wanted special thanks to go to his nephew and niece-in-law, Bob and Kathy Bolam, for watching out for him this past year. Survivors include his children and their spouses: Mykael and Jeannette Hawley; Vikki and Jay Molitor; sister Iva Lee Hawley; three grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Patty, Elmer was preceded in death by his siblings Rose Bolam, Olive Iredell, Virginia Curtis and Marvin Hawley. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Oct. 14 at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, who has been entrusted with arrangements. A reception follows. Memorials to the American Red Cross are preferred.
