Jaeger, 97, died Oct. 27, 2005, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Hermiston, Ore. Goldie was born to Aldus and Mamie (Medean) Kendig on April 14, 1908, on their homestead farm near Rock Lake, N.D., the third of four daughters. She graduated from Rock Lake High School in 1924, at age 16. In 1929, she moved with her family to Washington, where they settled in Spokane. She met Eldon "Shorty" Jaeger and married him at St. Aloysius in 1930. The following year, they moved to Kellogg, where Shorty worked for Union Pacific at the Kellogg Station. After her youngest child began school, Goldie worked as a retail clerk at Hutton's, Henry's and Patano's, until her retirement in 1970. Her chief interests were her family, her church and dancing with her husband. Goldie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Cara Nadine Jaeger of Osburn; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Jim Bellamy, Coeur d'Alene, Arlene and Bill Sorenson, Carol and Chuck Poulson, all of Hermiston, Ore., Winnie and Mike DeJanovich, Spokane; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Ila and Floyd Granlund, Spokane; and dozens of nieces and nephews. Goldie was preceded in death by her husband in 1970. The family suggests memorials to Greenwood Cemetery, Kellogg, (208) 786-9131. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Nov. 4 at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Kellogg, followed by interment of cremains at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Burns Mortuary in Hermiston, Ore., (541) 567-6474.
