Wayne was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Parma, Idaho, to Herman E. and Helen R. (Grube) Kessinger. He grew up and attended grade schools in Parma and Boise, and spent junior high and high school in Kennewick, Wash. In his senior year, Wayne moved to Govan, Wash., and graduated from Wilbur High School in 1948. Following graduation, he entered the Air Force and was stationed in England for two years as a military policeman. He finished his duty in Kansas in 1954. Wayne returned to Govan and worked for the Sheffel Family and farmed. He met Dorothy Nicholson in 1957 and they were married on Nov. 9. In March 1959, they moved to Worley, where Wayne started his own farm on leased land. He retired from farming in the 1980s but then worked as a rural mail carrier until retirement in 1994. Wayne and Dorothy have enjoyed spending the last 10 years of their retirement living winter out in Arizona. They made many new friends at the Morenga R.V. Park and especially enjoyed the desert rides and all the social activities. He was a member and past Master of the Worley Grange, Worley School Board, Worley Fire Commission and the American Legion. Wayne also enjoyed classic country music, driving a harvest truck for his brother-in-law and other farmer neighbors, and playing various card games. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Hayden; daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Ray Brouse, Merilee and Dan Sneve, all of Worley; mother Helen Kessinger; sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Dennis Stone, Almira, Wash.; grandchildren Dustin Brouse and wife Chelsea, Kurtis Brouse, Krystal and Kristopher Sneve; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Nov. 10 at Worley Community Church. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 North Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835, or North Idaho Cancer Center, 700 Ironwood Drive, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814.
