Shirley was born to Paul and May King on Jan. 26, 1924, in Memphis, Texas. She was the granddaughter of Charley and Myrtle Crow, who came to Donley County, Texas, in 1890. She married Frederick Kirkpatrick in 1945 after he returned from World War II and spent the next 20 years traveling the United States and Europe. From 1966 to 1990, Shirley worked in Dallas and Portland as a property manager. She was well-known for her sales ability and her kindness to her many tenants. She loved to travel and went many places with her family. One of her favorite destinations was Lincoln City, Ore., where she spent a great deal of time scouring the beaches for seashells and agates. She loved to paint and spent many hours at her easel capturing birds, flowers and scenery. Family and friends agree she was always in a good mood with a loving smile on her face. Shirley moved to Hayden from Portland in June 2003 and loved the area, most especially the good-hearted people she met. Shirley was part of a very loving extended family and is survived by her daughter, Patricia Langhans and son-in-law Mark Langhans; granddaughters Rebecca Cates and Julie Musella, their husbands Andrew Cates and John Musella; sisters Betty Zane Starkey and Dorothy Moreno; brother-in-law Juan Moreno; brother Don King; sister-in-law Charlene King; aunts Peggy Crow Hopkins, Winifred Crow Gaynor, Tommy Sue Crow; and many nieces and nephews and great- nieces and great-nephews. Much thanks is given to her primary care physician, Dr. Osmanski and his wonderful staff, and the Kootenai Medical Center for the outstanding care that she received. Shirley was much beloved, and her loving ways, quick wit and funny sense of humor will be sorely missed. Her love will never fade away and will remain in our hearts along with the many happy memories of good times spent with loved ones. Please sign Shirley's guest registry and view the online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
