He was born Feb. 22, 1916, in Orwell, N.Y., to Eva Belle (Stowell) and Jerry Ellsworth La Celle, both of New York. He served in the Navy during World War II. On Aug. 15, 1949, Jerry married Mable Louise Heimbach in Winnemucca, Nev. Their first move to North Idaho was in Caldwell, then in 1954, they moved to Mullan. Jerry was a retired school teacher and taught in the Wallace and Mullan area. He and Mable moved to Hayden in 1974. He was a member of Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mable, at home; sons Jerry La Celle Jr. and wife Virginia, Tacoma, Wash., Keith La Celle and wife Blanche, Chandler, Ariz., Roger La Celle, Tacoma, Gareth La Celle and wife Helen, Kent, Wash., Dennis La Celle and wife Lorna, Caldwell, Douglass La Celle and wife Charlene, Post Falls, Perry La Celle and wife Sandy, Port Orchard, Wash.; daughters Chrys Chaparro and husband Steve, Santa Fe, N.M., Pam Crawford and husband David, Spokane, Allene Huntington, Spokane; sister Rosemary Kenndrick and husband Robert, Chittenango, N.Y.; half-sister Janice Daugharty, Hillsborough, N.C.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jerry was predeceased by his sister, Eva Nichols, and half-sister Joyce La Celle. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Dec. 10 at Church of the Nazarene, 4000 N. Fourth St. Coeur d'Alene 83814. Inurnment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, is in charge of cremation. Contributions may be made to Church of the Nazarene or donor's charity of choice.
