Robert was born April 24, 1922, in Prophetstown, Ill., to Ross and Mabel Lanphere. He married Betty Nissen on June 22, 1949, in Clinton, Iowa, and lived most of his life in Camanche, Iowa. Robert was a 1940 graduate of Clinton High School. He attended the Colorado School of Mines and worked as a quality control supervisor of the starch lab at Clinton Corn Processing. He retired in 1982. Robert was a master gardener. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of VFW and American Legion, and was also a member of the Family Life Center Foursquare Church in Coeur d'Alene. Robert is survived by his wife, Betty; children Ross (Peggy) Lanphere, Hayden, Lauri (Ray) Morrow, Camanche, Iowa, and Wendy (Gerry) Lyons, Chester, Va.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister Phyllis Abbott, Camanche; stepbrother John Rohwer, Sterling, Ill.; three nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son. Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Oct. 23 at Family Life Center, 1502 Sherman Ave. Coeur d'Alene.
