Born Nov. 22, 1927, in Clarkston, Wash., to Marion and Harriet (Dare) Mitson. At the age of 8, after living in the Silver Valley, they moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1935. Les graduated in 1946 from Coeur d'Alene High School, after which he went to work in area lumber mills. In Jan. 1951, Les entered the Army and served in Korea with the 160th Infantry, Company H. He returned to Coeur d'Alene in 1952, but remained in the Army Reserves until 1960 and left the Reserves as a master sergeant. Les then worked as a millwright and sawyer for Ohio Match Lumber Company, which later became Diamond International. He retired after 28 years. During that same time, he built the house where he and his wife, Bonnie, raised their family. Les also had his own remodeling company for many years. He attended Lincoln Way Church of God and served on the church's board of trustees. He was also a life member of the National Rifle Association. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, rock hounding and camping. Les is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Jean Mitson of Coeur d'Alene; sons Mark Mitson, Richland, Wash., Roy Mitson, Avondale, Ariz., and Scott Mitson, Honeyville, Utah. He is also survived by his brothers Claude Mitson, Spokane, and Benjamin Mitson, Canton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. Memorial service will be 6 p.m. July 28 at Lincoln Way Church of God, 521 Emma Ave., Coeur d'Alene, to where memorials may be sent.
