He was born in Piniele, Mont., to Russell and Nora (Conger) Mullen, the fifth of seven children. Jim finished his junior year of high school in Arlee, Mont., then joined the Army, serving in the occupation of Japan. He then re- enlisted and was a Korean War veteran. Jim lived in Denver for 20 years and was a cook at the Brown Palace Hotel. He came to this area and was a 15-year caregiver for his disabled brother, John, who passed away in 1998. Jim then moved to Spirit Lake and spent much time with his sister and her family and was a big Denver Broncos fan -- the Seahawks were second. In addition to his brother John, Jim was also preceded in death by brother Elmer, sisters Bonnie and Betty, and his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his sister, Judy Cady of Blanchard; brother Willard, Casper, Wyo.; and special nieces and nephews: Lu, Karen, Jan, Edie, Warren, Wendell and Wes Gardipe; also, nephew and "buddy" Walter Lane. He made us laugh and we will so miss our Uncle Jimmy. Cremation has taken place. Jim will be laid to rest at St. Ignatius, Mont., beside his beloved Grandma Parks. Private family services will be held at a later date. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, was in charge of cremation.
