Family members will accept visitors 6-7 p.m. today for viewing, and services will be 11 a.m. Nov. 5, both at Shoshone Funeral Services, 106 Main St., Kellogg. Burial will be at Shoshone Memorial Gardens in Pinehurst, followed by dinner at the Rose Lake Historical Society. Born Aug. 1, 1909, in Hailey, to Chris and June (Brockway) Nelson, Leah was the eldest of 10 children. Her family resided in Baker, Ore., Spokane, and St. Joe City, where she spent her childhood. The family then moved to Kellogg, where Leah worked at Pleasant Home. She met Rex Goodson and they were married Sept. 25, 1928, in Wallace. They lived in Wardner, moved to the family homestead in Lane, placer mined in Murray, then returned to Lane. In 1953, they moved to their log home at Rose Lake, where they set up and ran a sawmill. Leah was preceded in death by her husband, Rex, in 1962, daughter Maxine Carpenter, son Rex (Buck) Goodson, grandchildren Gary, Terry and Jonathon Shane Goodson, and six of her siblings. She is survived by her children, Daniel, Vance, Wayne, Laura Jo and Larry Goodson; siblings Ted Nelson, Connie Lamphere and Kaye Nelson; 25 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous children and grandchildren whom she acquired and considered her own. Leah had many hobbies, including playing the violin, gardening, cooking, crocheting, sewing and knitting slippers. Leah was a life member of the Mission Ladies Club. The family requests memorials made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 Government Way, Hayden ID 83835, or the Rose Lake Historical Society.
