F. "Bill" Schnurr, 72, gently passed away with his family at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Gladys (Renfrew) Schnurr. Bill will be greatly missed by his loving wife and best friend, Barb; children Barb Roma, Mike and Diana Schnurr, Kathy and Dave Boling; "Mitzi"; grandchildren Laurel and Jake Boling; their grandmother Jo Dickinson; Bill's brother Bob and Be Schnurr; sister Barbara Harrison; and many other relatives and close friends. Bill was born in Potlatch, graduated from Potlatch High School and University of Idaho. He joined the Navy, eventually earning the rank of commander. Bill left his position as sales manager at Spokane Carnation Co. to pursue a successful career in commercial real estate. On April 5, 1986, Bill married Barb Goans, who shared his interest in snow skiing, scuba diving, travel, sky diving and sailing, and his almost legendary playful nature. Bill and Barb have been tireless collectors of stray animals and people; they have found life to be a constant source of wonder, and lived to make a difference in someone's day. He never met a stranger. A celebration of Bill's life will be 2 p.m. Oct. 8 at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a potluck at a friend's home immediately following the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Hennessey Valley Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 N. Pines Road, Spokane Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Spokane Humane Society, 6607 N. Havana Street, Spokane, WA 99207.
