Smith, 74, Athol, died Aug. 14, 2005, at Kootenai Medical Center, Coeur d'Alene. Born March 3, 1931, in East McKeesport, Pa., to Emma and Franklin Smith, he was raised in East McKeesport. Richard enlisted in the Army during the Korean War, and re-enlisted in the Air Force after Korea. On Aug. 17, 1957, he married Margaret E. Quinn in Colorado Springs, Colo. After military service, he worked as a computer analyst for the Civil Service in the Navy, from which he retired. He moved to Athol from Sparks, Nev., two years ago. Richard is survived by his wife Margaret at home; son George Smith, Reno, Nev.; daughters Michaelene Frank, Athol, and Michelle Arnold, Ventura, Calif.; sister Jane; brothers James Smith and Samuel Smith; grandchildren Darryl, Miranda and Khandyce. He was preceded in death by his sisters Lillian and Ruth, and brother Charles. Graveside memorial service will be 11 a.m. Aug. 17 at Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum.
