Ivan was born in Bellevue, Idaho, on Oct. 11, 1930, and was delivered by his grandmother on her kitchen table. In 1942, he moved to Coeur d'Alene, where he worked and raised his family. Ivan married a wonderful lady, Mary Lou Robinson, in 1948. He was a hard- worker and spent most of his career working for Kaiser Aluminum until he retired from Kaiser in 1974. In 1972, Ivan was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. However, he never let it get him down. He loved the outdoors and his hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with all of his family, especially his great- grandchildren. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sorensen (Chad) and Ada Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Sorensen; sister Winnie Holm; daughters Pam Koester and Cindy Waller; grandchildren Justine Lund, Norma Koester, Shawn Waller, Jason Waller and Kim Waller; and 13 great-grandchildren. In memory of Ivan, there will be a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Sept. 24 at his home. All friends and family are welcome to attend. At the family's request, please do not send flowers. However, in memory of Ivan, donors may make a charitable donation to a charity of their choice.
