She was born Oct. 3, 1913, in Sprague, Wash., daughter of Loyd and Pearl Strong. She was a graduated salutatorian at Otis Orchards High School, class of 1930, and was a member of the 1927 girl's basketball state championship team from Otis Orchards High. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Homer J. Sr., and their eldest son, Homer J. Jr. She is survived by her children, Jack, Dave and Judy; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother Robert and sister- in-law Irene. Dorothy served the Lord by her music, both vocally and instrumentally, as a member of various churches, lastly at Peace Lutheran Church. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be 2 p.m. Oct. 14 at Peace Lutheran Church, 4124 N. Harvard Road in Otis Orchards, Wash. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery in Opportunity, Wash. Handling by Thornhill Valley Funeral Home, 1400 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA 99206, (509) 924-2211. The family requests remembrances be made to a charity of donor's choice.
