He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater until the war ended. William served a number of years as a Coeur d'Alene police officer and Idaho State Police trooper, and retired from the Coeur d'Alene Street Department. Since his retirement, he and his wife of 31 years, Celia Teter, spent their winters in Arizona. William was a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed painting, fishing, cooking and reading. His wife, Celia, survives him in Coeur d'Alene. Other survivors include their son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Danette Teter of Dalton Gardens, son Bruce Teter; sister Bonnie Teter, Washington; stepson Drew Streeter, Arizona; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Paul Williams, Dalton Gardens; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. William was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Boylan, mother Vivian Teter, father John Berry and sister Betty Sperl. Graveside service today will be 2 p.m. at Forest Cemetery, Coeur d'Alene. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, is in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 2472, Spokane, WA 99210-2472.
