She resided at Ivy Court in Coeur d'Alene. The daughter of Ray E. and Ethel Thomas, Babe was born Oct. 10, 1913, near Second Street and Wallace, and lived in the Coeur d'Alene area all her life. In 1935, she married Lyle C. Brown of Harrison and made their home in Coeur d'Alene. Babe will be remembered as one who lived with devoted love to her family and friends. She was a musician, and as a young child of 5, learned to play the piano. Besides her family, this became her lifelong hobby and career, spanning a period of more than 85 years, from World War I until her passing. The Brown home was always surrounded by music, which was a joy to her. Babe played in many of the area bands from Eastern Washington, Western Montana and North Idaho. She also taught piano and accompanied vocalists. Babe was the accompanist for the Eagles and Elks Men's Choruses and the Elks Band. She was a charter member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary formed in 1947. She volunteered for many other community services and organizations. For a time, Babe enjoyed singing in the Sweet Adeline's Lady Barber Shoppers. She was an honorary member of the Rotary Club, for which she was the accompanist for 22 years and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Her husband, Lyle C. Brown, preceded Babe's death in 1975. Babe's children include Roger L. Brown and wife Donna of Sequim, Wash., Russell D. Brown and wife Phyllis, Coeur d'Alene; four grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren, and two expected great-great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Dec. 17 at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, with reception immediately following at the chapel.
