Waddell, 95 Service for Charles C. Waddell, 95, is planned for Oct. 18, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Burial will follow at St. Maries Cemetery. He passed away at Kootenai Medical Center. Mr. Waddell was born to Laura Wilkinson Waddell and Isaac Edward Waddell in Stanford, Mont., on Feb. 5, 1910, and passed away Friday, Oct.14, 2005. His home was on Mica Flats in Coeur d'Alene for the past 10 years. He lived in Kalispell, Mont., when he was nine years old. Then, the family moved to Leona, Idaho, (that's where he got his first deer) until 1920 when they moved to Bonners Ferry where he was a caretaker at a lumber company. When he was 15 years old he helped his dad cut wood and also was a bull cook for a crew. In 1926 he worked for Sandpoint Pole and Lumber Company where he jacked lumber for the ledger man. Later he moved to Troy, Mont., at 19 years of age and worked on a ranch. In 1928 Charles lived in Elk River and worked in a mill, working on electric motors. In 1931 he moved to Benewah where he met and married Emily Hyde Skinner. Here he worked sawing logs and drove a team of horses for skidding logs. From there in 1942 be moved with his wife and stepson, Bob Skinner, to St. Maries and worked for the St. Maries Lumber Company as a millwright and trimmer. While in St. Maries he was a city councilman. He moved to Missoula, Mont., and was a millwright for two years and also a filer until 1960. Then, he moved again and lived in Priest River, where he ran the Hedlund Lumber Company as boss until 1965 when he moved to Greenacres, Wash. He worked as a filer for Louisiana Pacific Mill where he retired. He lived there for 31 years and married Florence Reed in 1975 and then moved to Coeur d'Alene on Mica Flats in 1996. Charles is survived by his wife, Florence, his son, Terence Waddell and wife Diane of Rocklin, Calif., a daughter, Charlene Billingsly of Santa Clara, Utah, stepson Harrison Reed and wife Cheryl, stepdaughter Eva Armitage and husband Mike of Coeur d'Alene, stepdaughter Carlene Scheline and husband Don of Darby, Mont., stepdaughter Doreen Hodge and husband Jim of Kalispell, and daughter-in-law Lucille Skinner of St. Maries. One sister, Opal Zick of Lewiston, six grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, numerous great- grandchildren and great-step-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Eileen Waddell, stepson Robert Skinner, wives Emily and Mae, brothers Edward, Jess, James, and sisters Ella, Martha, Mary Leona, Edith, and a baby sister. Charles enjoyed dancing, gardening and making things out of anything handy. He played his guitar for dances in his younger years. He was always there to teach his children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and others how to make many things out of whatever you have. He belonged to the St. Maries Eagles No. 2012 and the Valley Eagles while living in Greenacres. He transferred back to the St. Maries Eagles. He also belonged to the Mica Flats Grange. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
