He was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Valerie Walker, mother and father Hugh and Ethel Walker. David was born Jan. 6, 1936, in Walla Walla, Wash. After graduating from Walla Walla High School in 1954, David went to work for Pacific Northwest Bell in Colfax, Wash. He soon met and married Judy L. Redmond and they raised their three boys in Colfax. David loved water-skiing and boating on the Snake River with family and friends. He refereed high school football and basketball games throughout Whitman County. Dave raced cars in his early years and continued working on them throughout his lifetime. He loved hunting and maintained a gun collection and his own ammo loading bench. He built ham radios and computers and held a Radio Operator's license. Dave's many talents also included locksmithing. He opened Keloc Locksmith Company and also worked that side business for many years. Many young married couples can thank Dave for their wedding pictures and memories as he was the hired photographer at many of their weddings. He also provided tax services. Dave and Judy with Don and Shelly Organ owned and ran the Rose Theater in Colfax from 1969 to 1977. He and Don took turns running the projectors. Dave ran a "special" movie every year at midnight for all the graduating seniors. In 1991, Dave retired from Pacific Northwest Bell, after 35-1/2 years, with only one day of work missed. He spent his retirement years in Spokane golfing and having breakfast with friends while reading the Wall Street Journal. Having a beer at the local pub with his fellow retired telephone-buddies was a valued pastime. Dave also loved teaching computer classes, traveling and spending time with family and friends at his place on Lake Coeur d'Alene. He was a life-time member of the Eagles Lodge and Shriners, a school board member, Eagle scout, an avid community volunteer as a Boy Scout leader and Chamber President during Colfax's Bicentennia. David is survived by his brother Tom Walker; and sons Scott, Todd and Cory Walker, their children Travis, Stephanie, Jordanna, Quadde, Rummor and Nik Walker. David did not want a funeral or services and chose to be cremated. His ashes will be scattered by his sons and friends at his most beloved place on the Snake River. Arrangements handled by Spokane Cremation & Burial Service, 2832 N. Ruby, Spokane, WA 99207, 509-324-9375. "Dave, you will be missed by your family and friends, and all the people you touched throughout your time here." Please send your thoughts and prayers to Cory A. Walker, 4312 N. "I" St. Spokane, WA 99205. Additional Comments: Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County, Idaho <> Volunteer submission - No relation to the deceased.
