Riggs, 87, Hayden Lake, passed away in her home on Aug. 1, 2005. She was born to William Jeremiah Wood and Mary Elizabeth Wood on Nov. 18, 1917, in The Dalles, Ore. Martha worked picking cotton in the fields, and later on worked at a chicken factory. She married Jack Riggs on March 17, 1956, while he was stationed in Ft. Lewis, Wash. They moved to Idaho, where Martha worked at the Sunshine Cafe and the Maries Cafe. Martha is best known for holding the senior dances at the Post Falls Senior Center and in Spokane with her husband, Jack Riggs. She was also a member of The Hilliard Bells. Her hobby and love was for dancing. She is survived by numerous brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Riggs, who passed away on June 6, 1993. Martha and Jack are now reunited with one another and will forever live on in our hearts. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Aug. 7 at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Reception will follow the service at Yates Hayden Gathering Center.
