Born March 25, 1937, in Oak Park, Ill., to Dwight and Emma (Bunn) Wulf, Diane was raised in Bellwood, Ill. She and her husband, Allen, were childhood friends since the ages of 2 and 3. They were married June 8, 1957, and were blessed with three daughters. While in Bellwood, they owned and operated Plahn's Hardware Store together for eight years. In 1973, they felt led by the Lord to move to Coeur d'Alene. They became members of Christ the King Lutheran Church. Diane was involved in many ministries of the church, including teaching Bethel Bible classes, leading a widows' travel group, and serving on the Mission Board helping to establish new churches in Rathdrum and Sandpoint. Her community activities included serving as a board member for Youth for Christ, serving on the Coeur d'Alene Arts Commission, and volunteering for Hospice. Diane was deeply patriotic and strong in her faith in Christ. She was a wonderful, loving wife and friend to her husband of 48 years. Her greatest joy was spending time and special occasions with her husband, children, grandchildren and friends. Diane is survived by her husband, J. Allen Plahn; daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and the Rev. David Haught, Phoenix, Elizabeth and the Rev. Fred Page, Chino Hills, Calif., Martha and Harold Hatch, Coeur d'Alene; grandchildren Michael Haught, Moscow, Amanda Haught, Missoula, Mont., Andrew Haught, Moscow, Emily Page, Chino Hills, Calif., Katherine Page, Chino Hills, Calif., and Allison Hatch, Coeur d'Alene; one niece and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dwight Wulf Jr. and sister Darlene Wulf. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Nov. 11 at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Nov. 12 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, with the Reverend David Haught officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery.
