Camp during WW11 consisted of 300 acreas and was about 5 miles West of Paul. In May 1944 it housed Italian prisoners of war. September1944 German prisoners replaced the Italian prisoners and according to the record in Jan 1946 there was 3,337 German P.O.W.'s. Article also stated that the German soldiers were battle worn and exhausted. Area farmers needing laborer's gave jobs to the prisoners on their farms and treated them humanly.The prisoners were picked up in the mornings and returned to the camp in the evenings.
