DIXON RUPERT – Bessie Roland Dixon, 85, Ogden, Utah, former Rupert resident, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 1991, at her home in Ogden. She was born Nov. 24, 1905 at Winside, Nebraska, the daughter of James Thomas and Hattie Belle Hodges Roland. She attended schools in Winside and Ainsworth, Neb. She came to Rupert in 1935, later moving to Ogden, Utah in 1973, where she had since resided. She married Bailey Allen Dixon on Sept. 27, 1940, at the Logan LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1967. A member of the LDS Church, she had served as president of the Young Ladies MIA, in the Sunday School, as a Primary teacher, in both the ward and stake Relief Society presidencies, as a visiting teacher, and as a member of both the ward and stake choir. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ferron (Marjorie) Crook, Twin Falls; two sons, Everett M. Jamison, San Jose, Calif., and Dennis A. Dixon, Ogden, Utah; two stepsons, LaMar A. Dixon, Boise, and Keith H. Dixon, Caldwell; one sister, Mrs. J. H. (Mildred) Chamberlain, Guthrie, Oklahoma; a brother, Gordon Roland, Moses Lake, Wash.; 23 grandchildren; 85 great grandhildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers, four sisters, and a granddaughter. Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 15, 1991 at the West Weber 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 4100 West 900 South, Ogden, Utah, with Bishop Oren Flinders officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 1991 at the Rupert Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Payne Mortuary in Burley.
