No one witnessed the occurrence. Mr. and Mrs. Edmister were working in the garden about fifty yards from the house when they noticed smoke issuing from the doors and windowns. They hastened to the house when, to their horror, they beheld their baby boy lying on the floor dead, with his body almost burned to a crisp. Smoe clothing hanging on the wall was also in flames. There in no clue as to how the child caught fire but it is believed that it obtained matches and set fire to its clothing.
