She was born Mary M. Dau on Sept. 11, 1911 at Lewiston. She was a graduate of Lewiston Senior High School and the Northern Idaho College of Education, and had attended the University of Idaho. She taught grade school at Tammany for two years before her marriage on Oct. 12, 1936 to John Thiessen. She was active in the Pollyana Club and the Grange in Tammany, and was a member of the Congregational-Presbyterian Federated Church. A devoted gardener, she received more blue ribbons for her flower displays at the Nez Perce County Fair in 1952 than any other contributor and was awarded the Fair's grand prize. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Harold and Wayne of Tammany; her father and stepmother Mr. and Mrs. John Dau of Lewiston; two sisters, Mrs. Claude Wylie of Deary and Mrs. Kenneth McIntosh of Lewiston; three brothers, George Dau of Reubens, Fred Dau of Cheney, Wash., and Ed Dau of Lewiston, and one half-brother John Schatz of Lewiston Orchards. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel. Additional Comments: Mary and John Thiessen were the aunt and uncle of the contributor.
