No man in the Payette Valley has, perhaps, done as much to stimulate the unfolding of its amazing resources during the past 13 years, who was actuated by as patriotic and disinterested motives as B. P. Shawham. He came to Idaho for the purpose of building the Farmers’ Cooperative Ditch, and he brought the capital to do it with. He is the father of the New Plymouth Colony, and he laid it out and managed it for several years. Mr. Shawhan was a popular candidate for governor in 1896. During 1898 and 1899 he lived in far away Dawson. Mr. Shawhan is the organizer and present president of the Commercial Club, and a citizen of enterprise, refinement and culture, who would be an ornament to any community or society.
