One of the pleasant events of the week was a New Year's dinner given by Mrs. 
Jennie M. Langley at her elegant new home, three miles east of town.  The 
dinner was given upon and in honor of the first anniversary of the wedding of 
Mr. and Mrs. Willard Detrick, Mrs. Detrick being the daughter of Mrs. 
Langley.  The dinner, which was about as near perfect as a dinner can be, was 
served on one long table to twenty-two guests.  Mrs. Langley came to this 
valley in '81, and though suffering many hardships, managed to preserve a 
quarter section of land as fine as lays on the bench anywhere.  Mrs. Langley 
has lately completed a fine new house and with her daughter and son-in-law is 
spending the declining days in comfort.  The dinner party was composed of the 
following persons: Mr. F. S. Stevens and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Harrington 
and daughter, Lucile; Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Tyler and family; Mr. and Mrs. C.W. 
Detrick, Lewis Detrick, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Detrick, Pauline Detrick, Mrs. J. 
M. Langley, Lillian Langley, Eliza Detrick, Mr. Baird.
