We are planning on having the greatest Memorial Day in the history of Payette. We expect an enormous crowd, people from Weiser, Ontario, Fruitland, New Plymouth, Emmett, Parma, Caldwell, Nampa, Boise and other surrounding cities are invited to come. An excellent program has been arranged for in addition to the ceremonies at the cemeter in the morning and unveiling of the “doughboy” in the afternoon. To properly prepare for the event, and in order to show that we are really patriotic and appreciate what has been done in the past for us preserving the integrity of our country it is desired and specially requested that all HOMES AND BUSINESS HOUSES BE DECORATED TO THE LIMIT. Display the flag wherever possible, if you have a mast put up the flag in this manner, draw it to the top then drop it to half mast and keep it there until noon, draw it to the top for the rest of the day and take it down NOT LATER THAN SUN-DOWN. When the flag is draped from a building the proper side must be displayed in public view. In the case the flag is suspended with the stripes running perpendicular the blue field should be in the upper hand corner. When it is suspended with the stripes running horizontal the field should be in the upper left hand corner. If the flag should be used as a stand cover nothing but the bible is permitted to be laid on it, it is better, however, not to use the flag in that manner, bunting should be used instead. Bunting may be used and draped in any manner as it is not the United States Colors. Great preparations ase being made for a fine parade. We want as many patriotic floats entered as possible, business houses and fraternal and civic societies are urged to enter floats of a nature that will depicit the historical events of our country. People, we solicit your valued cooperation in putting this big. Do not hesitate to come forward and show your patriotism and public spirit by assisting on this eventful day. --Legion Patriotic Com.
