It will be extended 600 feet south. This will be a great benefit to the town as the greater part of the pond between Front street and the railroad will be filled in and give the railroad almost a mile of sidetrack. The people who have been encroaching on the railroad right of way will be ousted. The Independent is putting in a new power press. A gasoline engine will be put in later. W. S. Long and daughter of near Vale, Ore., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Golden of Washoe for a few days. D. W. Ross was here yesterday and measured the water in the lower Payette ditch. Peter Pence went to Weiser this morning. A few strawberries are coming in this week selling at $1.00 per gallon. John M. Johnson of Boise, C. G. Roberts of Portland and a number of wool buyers are in Payette today. Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Hart of Boise and Dr. and Mrs. W. R. Hamilton of Silver City, arrived on the westbound. Mr. Hart and family will go out to New Plymouth this evening. Mrs. H. C. Coker and mother of Mountain home, who have been visiting Mr.and Mrs. Walton for the past week, returned this evening. Miss Stella Flakes of Ontario was visiting old friends here.
