The cherries just getting ripe are all black this morning. Reports from up the river are that all garden plants are lost. One man here kept three fires burning in his garden, but it did no good One rancher came and bought melon seed to replant five acres, and another to plant two acres. Corn is hurt but may come out all right. DeLano, the weather man, reports the thermometer as being down to 28. The Fortnightly club gave a very pleasant and interesting entertainment last night at Lamme hall. Those present from Weiser were Misses Jessie Hand, Alma Hand, Jennie Lockwood; Messrs, Jim Petite, Grover Garr, Will Garr, Ontario, Ore.; Mrs. L. Adams, Nyssa, Ore.; Miss Charles Emmison. Gus Scharfhausen, on Little Willow creek, has struck a good flow of artesian water at a depth of 366 feet. William Wall sold three carloads of horses that are being shipped east today. Stuart Frenck, superintendent of the Blue Jacket mine in the Seven Devils, arrived this morning en route to Salt Lake and will spend a week with Mr. and Mrs. John McGlinchey. On a close inspection of the prune orchards of Charles Hinze, Nick Brandersen, C. L. Rands and several others, not a good one could be found and news from all others shows that the prune-crop, which was a large one, is a total loss. Fifty thousand dollars will not cover the loss in this vicinity.
