K. Wright and family arrived on yesterday's west- bound. Mr. Wright is a preacher of the Christian faith. John J. Peters, late from Dakota, commenced this morning to build several new houses on Broad street. They will be for rent. Charles Guiles is preparing to build a residence on the same street. Miss Christena Say returned to Huntington, Ore., this evening. Rev. W. L. Strange of New Plymouth went to Baker City on No. 5 having been called there by the sickness of his sister, Mrs. Lethea Kimbley. Rev. L. G. Clark, Baptist general missionary for Montana and southern Idaho, left today for Butte after making a brief visit to Pastor F.S. Dulin of this place. Payette, March 8 -- Mr. and Mrs. B.P. Shawhan entertained a few friends last night in honor of Mrs. Charles S. Loveland and Mrs. Pickering. Henry Wagner and family left this afternoon for Ellis, Wash. A large number of hone-seekers came in this morning from Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Tennessee. W.C. Howell of Des Moines, Ia., came in last evening. H.H. McMannus has returned from his pilgrimage to Emmett and vicinity. Frank Creighton will serve tea and cake Wednesday afternoon at his home on Ada avenue for the benent of the Episcopal church. Ed Short shipped three cars of beef cattle to Portland today.
