He was found in a hayloft waiting for a chance to board the blind baggage of some train. J.S. Napton & Sons returned Saturday from the Oregon oil fields where they have spent a week in making examinations and locating claims. They report finding of excellent prospects on Birch creek where they located 10,000 acres and will soon commence to drill. They visited the works of the California company on Dry gulch but could get no information as every man was too busy to talk. The company seemed to be rushing work for some cause. W. R. Whipple and wife retuned this morning from an extended visit with Mr. Whipple's folks in Erie county, Pennsylvania. D. K. McNeal of British Columbia was here Saturday buying heavy work horses. He would only buy horses weighing 1200 or more, for which he paid a good big price, over $100 per head for some.
