FRUITLAND MAN FRUIT INSPECTOR
 
Guy Graham Is Appointed By Horticultural Board To Succeed Macey
 
At a meeting of the State Horticultural board held in Boise Wednesday Guy 
Graham of this place was appointed fruit inspector to succeed C. K. Macey.
 
The appointment of the Fruitland man came as no surprise as Mr. Graham is 
known to be in perfect accord with Governor Alexander's retrenchment policy 
and that the governor in return favored his appointment very much.
 
The friends of Mr. Macey made strenuous efforts to retain him as inspector.  
In fact it is claimed that they took the matter into politics to the extent of 
packing a meeting of the State Horticultural society and passing resolutions 
in his favor.  Failing in this the secretary of state refused to certify the 
governor's appointments on the horticultural board.  The matter was taken to 
the state supreme court which decided in favor of the governor, holding that 
the recommendations of the Horticultural association were not binding upon the 
executive.
 
Mr. Graham will undoubtedly make an excellent inspector and Mr. Alexander can 
be complimented on selecting a man from the center of the biggest fruit 
section in Idaho.
 
The withdrawal of D. L. Ingard of this place and the appointment of E. F. 
Stephens, of Nampa, instead, allowed the immediate appointment of the new 
inspector.
 
If Mr. Ingard's appointment had been insisted upon the appointment of 
inspector would have been delayed for 60 days and the inspecting force greatly 
demoralized.
