JUDGESHIP TO FRANK SMITH

Hon. Frank J. Smith of Caldwell, has been appointed judge of the newly created 
Seventh judicial district by Governor Gooding.  Judge Smith took the oath of 
office and received his commission Wednesday.  He will enter upon his duties 
immediately. 

The people of the Payette Valley and Canyon county generally will be glad to 
hear of the honor conferred upon Mr. Smith, who is known to them as a lawyer of 
marked ability and a man of sterling character.  The Boise Statesman says of 
him:

“Judge Smith enjoys the confidence and respects of the bench and bar to a 
marked extent and, as he expressed himself, his only handicap is that he has to 
follow in the footsteps of Judge Stewart who has established a high judicial 
standard in the Third district out of which the Seventh was created.”
