LAYING OF THE CORNER STONE

The corner stone of the new Baptist church was laid Monday afternoon at 3 
o’clock with appropriate ceremonies, which were witnessed by a large audience.  
Owing to the lack of space and other circumstances the INDEPENDENT is unable 
this week to give a fitting write-up of the services and the articles inclosed 
in the corner stone, but will do so next week, together with a description of 
the fine new church, the brick work of which is now fast nearing completion.  
Evidence is given at this time that the edifice will make a very handsome 
appearance when completed and be one of which the Baptist people will have 
every reason to feel proud.
