This is without a question a very unfavorable year for a project of this kind, and yet the present conditions prove that the proposition is bound to be a grand success. With all the shortage of snow and rain fall during the winter and spring, the big reservoir at Paddock Valley has quite a quantity of water. At the present time the water extends back at least four and a half miles, and is within four feet of the present height of the dam which is about sixty feet and is raising all the time. There are three sources of supply that enter the creek below the Paddock Valley dam, Indian Creek, Lindson Creek and Holland Gulch, which will be used for early irrigation. We are told by Mr. Coats that there are now about two thousand inches of water flowing over the diversion dam which is located at his ranch, and will in a very few days be turned into the ditches for irrigation. The reservoir at this diversion dam backs up the creek about one-half mile and covers quite a territory of land. It would seem advisable for the Payette Rod and Gun Club to stock these two ponds with fish. We believe arrangements could be made with the State game warden to take bass and croppie from the slough's and the State will furnish plenty of trout.
