Just a year ago today, New Plymouth was launched upon the sea of uncertainty. Today its first anniversary finds it riding the waves of progress and enterprise on to its goal of prosperity. No more a weary waste of sage brush and rabbit haunts, it is fast becoming an Eden in the desert and will soon be the "Flower basket of Idaho." The colonist realize that a paradise can be made of this place in a few years, and, not waiting until their orchards are bearing before beautifying their home surroundings, have begun at once to adorn their home acres with trees, shrubs, roses and lawns. Almost one thousand acres have been cleared and put under cultivation during the past year, and many "home acres" boast of lawns, grape arbors, flower gardens and everything that goes to beautify a home lot. All the colonists, realizing the needs of the home, have planted all that the heart could wish for in the line of vegetables. So far the weather has been in favor of the colonists and everything in the gardens and orchards is doing very well.
